I have been getting many questions about how my ACL recovery is progressing. Just as a reminder, I ruptured my ACL and have opted to take a natural approach rather than undergoing an invasive surgery.
In a previous post I mentioned the various techniques and nutrients I have implemented into my path to recovery. Everything has been going very well. I have to accept that healing a completely ruptured ACL is not something that will happen quickly, but I don’t believe I would recover from surgery any faster either. Many of the approaches I am using have provided me with noticeable changes and improvements. As well as including foods high in nutrients which are beneficial to tissue health (such as vitamin D, vitamin A, Vitamin C, zinc and EFA’s), I also committed to regular chiropractic care with one of the best doctors in Vancouver. Dr. Avtar Jassal (Jassal Chiropractic) has been a key part of my progression.
My journey back to a healthy knee has reached a point where I am able to remain active and pain-free. However, I am still aware of some restriction in more intense situations (like sports). So I decided to take my approach to the next level. I went in to meet with my Naturopathic Doctor (Dr. Keith Condliffe – Awen Health Centre) to explore another technique with which I am relatively unfamiliar. Dr. Condliffe practices a method called Auricular Medicine. I won’t attempt to explain the details with this method, but I encourage you to visit his site to learn more. Better yet, book an appointment and experience auricular medicine first hand.
With the use of this approach, as well as some acupuncture and supplementation from Dr. Condliffe, I was amazed to feel another significant jump in my ACL recovery within a matter of a day. My knee felt more flexible and I was able to hold many yoga poses which were impossible a few days earlier. I’m excited to have Keith working with me to help enhance my recovery process.
